Product Engineer - Radar
About the Role
The Radar team builds WorkOS's real-time identity intelligence layer that detects, verifies, and blocks harmful behavior. Powered by sophisticated device fingerprinting that analyzes 20+ signals (browser features, screen properties, WebGL rendering, timezone, headless detection, and more), Radar automatically blocks credential stuffing, brute force attacks, bot traffic, impossible travel, and free trial abuse. Events are classified into Allowed, Challenged, or Blocked categories, with customers able to combine Radar's signals with their own product data through Actions.
What You'll Do
- Build real-time systems that ingest high-volume authentication and identity events
- Design and improve device fingerprinting that analyzes 20+ browser and device signals
- Build detection engines for credential stuffing, brute force, impossible travel, and bot detection
- Craft intuitive APIs and developer workflows for identity intelligence
- Design the Actions system that lets customers combine Radar signals with their own data
- Build challenge flows (SMS verification, geo-blocking) for suspicious behavior
- Shape Radar's product direction alongside the team
- Work on distributed systems, real-time analytics, and fraud prevention
What We Look For
- 5+ years of industry software development experience
- Experience with fraud detection, bot prevention, or security/abuse systems
- Comfort with high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems
- Experience working on small teams in high-agency, fast-paced environments
- Understanding of device fingerprinting, browser APIs, and detection techniques
- Experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Postgres
- Interest in real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures
- Experience in B2B SaaS or developer tools is a plus
- Background in security, trust & safety, or risk engineering is a plus
